Bronwen is an International award-winning Director, Choreographer, Writer and Producer. Her professional career started in classical ballet with San Jose Dance Theatre and Cleveland Ballet. She went on to perform in musicals including Me and My Girl, Kismet, Joseph and the Technicolor Dreamcoat, and The Will Rogers Follies, and received an Equity Ginny Award for her depiction of Zaneeta Shinn in The Music Man. After being cast in a supporting role in the feature film “Dance With Me” directed by Randa Haines (Children of a Lesser God), she relocated to NYC to pursue acting professionally where she performed for many years in plays, musicals, feature films, and commercials including: Center Stage, Keeping the Faith, Jockey, Sprint, Leave it!, The Sopranos, Bury the Dead, The Winter of Her, The Ballad of Mary Jo, and Blur.
In 2014, Bronwen transitioned into directing, writing, and choreography. She founded SoundingLine Arts, a non-profit company focused upon creating theatre and film that illuminates, explores and reveals through an engaging and imaginative blend of somatic movement, installation art, soundscapes, physical theatre, and spoken word. Sounding Line’s first production, “49th Street” was performed in 2014 at The Ailey Center in NYC.
Bronwen’s choreographic and physical theatre works have been performed at Symphony Space (NYC), The Skirball Center at NYU, Mark Morris Dance Group, The Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College (NYC), The Connelly Theatre (NYC), The Director’s Lab at The Actors Studio (NYC), Irondale Theatre (NYC), The Gloria Maddox Theatre (NYC) and The Ailey Center (NYC).
Director Credits Include: The Man Who Laughs (starring Tony Award winner, James Iglehart), April’s Fool (recipient- NYCFringe 2014 Excellence in Directing Award), Viva America- B’dway Workshop, The Neighborhood Playhouse Spring Theatre Festival – Director: Myopia, Dim Sum, and Fugue, Sunday in the Park With Phil – Piney Fork Festival, NYC, the world premiere of Jack’s Back (NYIT Excellence in Choreography Nomination), 49th Street and Other Stories (Creator/Director), The Dragon Play – Articulate Theatre Company, NYC, and Two Days til Dawn – Off B’dwy.
In 2016, Bronwen’s first screenplay, Tunnels Above Ground, was produced and premiered at the Omaha Int’l Film festival in 2018. Current writing projects include: Magpie (limited episodic series in development), Liminal Starling (feature film), and A savage, simple (Dennis and Victoria Ross Playwriting Foundation Finalist) currently in development in North Carolina.
Bronwen has worked as a producer in both theatre and films including: The Astaire Awards 2014/2015 (NYC), The Angel on a Leash Benefit (NYC), Spring Theatre Festival at The Neighborhood Playhouse (NYC), Tunnels Above Ground (film), 49th Street and Other Stories, a visual novel performed at The Ailey Center, and BITE ME (feature film).
Bronwen is conservatory trained in Meisner, Stanislavsky System, Michael Chekhov Technique, Laban Movement Analysis, Classical Ballet, Theatrical Clowning (Lecoq), Butoh, Viewpoints (Bogart) and teaches Master Classes in acting, physical theatre, and artistry at The Actors Studio, Juilliard, NYU Gallatin, Broadway Dance Center, and Steps on Broadway.
