Jenni Perry began dancing at the age of 8 has trained in many styles of dance including: ballet, tap, jazz, clogging, lyrical and pointe. Her favorite style of dance is clogging and she loves sharing her passion for this exciting style of dance with her students.
Jenni is a 2006 graduate of Meredith College and holds both a BS in Biology and a BA in psychology. As an undergrad, Jenni was a member of the Meredith Tap Ensemble and was a performer and choreographer for the Meredith College annual spring dance performance, DanceWorks. She was also a member of the award winning NCSU Wolfpack Clogging Team and even had the privilege of performing with members of the clogging ensemble All That!
In 2010 Jenni completed the Certified Clogging Instructor training and NCHC Judges and Directors training at the National Clogging Convention held in Nashville, TN. In 2013 she was a guest instructor at the National Clogging Convention in Orlando, FL where she was awarded the distinguished title of Certified Clogging Instructor. Jenni travels the US to clogging workshops several times a year and has had the privilege to train with some of clogging’s best national instructors including: Scotty Bilz, Blake Bartlett Dunn, Missy Shinoski, Matt Sexton, Barry Welch, and more.
Jenni has been a dance instructor for 12 years and has directed competitive clogging teams for 11 years. Over the years, her choreography has been awarded “excellent technique,” “most entertaining,” and “crowd pleaser” as well as numerous overall highest scoring routines, and several national champion titles. In 2014, Jenni was honored to be awarded the prestigious North Carolina Folk Festival Audrey and Ellis Perry trophy. This trophy is awarded to the routine that is of the highest quality choreography, showmanship, and execution as well the routine that best exemplifies the Southern Appalachian style of clogging. Jenni also enjoys pageantry and was the director and choreographer for the Miss Clayton High School Pageant for 5 years. She has helped numerous girls with their modeling and talents. She has had many ladies go on to win local and state titles with Princess of North Carolina, NC Cinderella, USA Ambassador, and Miss North Carolina’s Outstanding Teen.
Jenni resides in Raleigh and enjoys reading, crafting, traveling, and spending time with her two doggies, Sadie and Lola. She is very excited to be starting her 5th year at Studio 5!
