Learn About All of the Styles Offered
Tippy Toes and Tappy Feet Classes are designed to be developmental in nature. Imagine your child twirling with joy, tapping with excitement, leaping with delight, and full of smiles and giggles! These classes give 3-6 year olds creative development, rhythmic skills and a foundation for motor development as well as imaginative play and FUN!!! These classes allow children to move freely and develop a love of dance. All 3-6 year old classes are tap and ballet with jazz added at the Tippy Toes/Tappy Feet/Jazzy Hands level (5-6 year olds). We have now added Tumble to our Tippy Toes and Tappy Feet program. No more deciding between dance and gymnastics! Tippy Toes/Tappy Feet/Tumble is your one stop shop for all things dance and tumble! Tumble classes are limited to 10 students, so don't delay in registering!
Mommy and Me is a fun class for Moms and toddlers. Participants sing songs, exercise and dance together, work on gross motor skills, and enjoy quality time together. This class is designed for toddlers who have started walking up to 2 1/2 years old.
Ballet training is the foundation of dance. It teaches proper placement, alignment, balance, technique and control. Ballet is the core to all forms of dance. Focus on body positioning, center and barre work and vocabulary/terminology. A great class for any student age 7 and up. Classes offered at all levels.
Pointe is offered to those students who have mastered the knowledge and technique of ballet and ready for the next level. *Instructor approval needed.*
Jazz is a stylized, fast paced form of dance that employs many of the same concepts of ballet, but puts it to a more upbeat music and some different technical aspects. Focus on strength, technique, vocabulary and terminology. Classes available for all levels, dancers will be placed at the correct level of ability.
Lyrical is a form of creative expression, it is story set in motion. This form has a fusion of ballet and jazz which combines one’s own expression along with technical skills. Dancers must have a solid dance technique base for this class.
Modern is a form of creative, abstract expression. Modern is very similar in style to "contemporary" dance that you see on So You Think You Can Dance and World of Dance. Modern is a rebellion against ballet. It has many different styles and techniques that have developed over the past 120 years. Modern often uses the floor, a flexed foot, contraction and release, suspension, and turned in or parallel legs and feet.
Tap is all about rhythm! Tap is an exciting and challenging form that creates sounds, rhythm and syncopation with your feet. Tap helps with coordination and timing!
Hip Hop is the style most frequently seen on television and music videos. Movements are fast, bouncy and funky! Lots of attitude is needed for this class! Jazz background would be helpful for this style.
Clogging is a percussive style of folk dance that is a combination of tap and Irish Step dance. Clogging is most often found in the Appalachian Mountains. Clogging is similar to tap except that the shoes have two taps instead of one. This creates a louder sound with even more rhythm. There are many styles of clogging from traditional to a more modern version.
Liturgical is a a lyrical style of dance that is done to Christian music. Dancers will learn this praise and worship style of dance. A short devotion will be done at the beginning of each class.
High Five Buddies Our once a month Saturday classes are designed to be a fun, social class that focuses on building relationships between the specials needs dancers and our volunteers. The dancers follow the instructions in the listen and move songs, get their wiggles and energy out, work on gross motor skills, and have fun dancing with their buddy volunteer.
Adult Classes are a fun way to get exercise, try new things, and have some much needed adult time! Adult conversations, building friendships with other dance moms, and sometimes we have wine!
At Studio 5 Dance Company, each dancer will be challenged and grow in a positive atmosphere in all levels of classes.
The teaching staff will place each dancer in to the appropriate class according to ability level and age.
