Tyra has had a passion for dance and movement since she was a baby. Moving to Raleigh at the age of 10, she was trained in the neighboring area in Jazz, Hip Hop, Contemporary, Lyrical, and Ballet where she also competed in various competitions. Her interest in teaching and choreography began in High school where she entered a independent study program in dance that allowed her to explore with choreography and further her dance education. Upon entering college she continued her dance career performing while also enrolling in dance courses through the university. After obtaining her Bachelors Degree, She began working as a choreographer and dance teacher, teaching all levels in various styles of dance including tumbling. She has won various awards for her competitive choreography and is known for the creativity she brings to every style. She is best known for her always energetic personality and has built a reputation for being dedicated to student growth in dance while also instilling a long lasting love for dance with every student who walks into her classroom. She assures that every student at every level is loved and enjoys their experience. When not at the studio she is also a Instructional Assistant in a Special Education classroom at a High School in Wake County. Her passion for students goes beyond dance and is incorporated in her work daily. She owes all of who she is to her family and has strong Family values. When not working you can find most of her time is spent with her loved ones. She is thrilled to be apart of the Studio 5 family!
