Kathleen Smith (she/her) grew up in Chesapeake,Virginia where she trained in many styles such as ballet, pointe, jazz, modern/contemporary, musical theater, hip hop, and acro. She graduated in May 2025 from East Carolina University with a BFA in Dance Performance and Choreography. While studying at ECU she had many opportunities to perform in both faculty and student works. She also was given the chance to choreograph many pieces, most recently, her senior thesis project titled “would you (please) stay awhile?” Kathleen has enjoyed working with the American Dance Festival as an intern in the Summer of 2024 and then later attending their Winter intensive in January 2025. Kathleen also was given the opportunity to attend the Henny Jurien summer intensive in Amsterdam. In Amsterdam she got the chance to learn from well upcoming artist Evelien Jansen, learn Crystal Pite repertoire from Spencer Dickhaus, as well as learn HumanHood repertoire from Tzu-Yi Tseng.
